I know it, I live it , I love it

We had a stake RS camp last weekend @ camp Banksia @ Port Sorell. Pauline and I drove up together. It was a great event which followed the pattern of a recent conference talk. I'm a Mormon. I know it, I live it, I love it.
On the way home Pauline and I collected apples from roadside trees for their horse Felix. It was quite comical and at one point we got bogged. I loved these hay bail sculptures - part of harvest celebrations.

Harmony Day

After a great game of Basketball (played by Mr J) we headed home for tuna casserole then off to the uni for Harmony Day celebrations. There were a bunch of international foo stalls. We tried crispy rice balls for desert. Me J and I liked them Miss M- not so much. Entertainment included dancers, Malaysian singers, Tassie drum circle and for the kids face painting and circus training. Miss M also rushed to the stage for the Gangnam Style kids rush. She is so cool. Soon after she fell off a handrail and smacked her head and back on the ash felt. She seems to be ok - if not a little sore. Once we got home we put on Mulan just to make sure we kept her up for a while, then Mr J helped me laminate shapes for my year 3 geometry lesson on Tuesday. All in all plenty of harmony happening at our place today :)

Running their socks off

Both B1 and B2 did themselves proud today @ their sports carnivals. B1 came 1st in the 400m after a traumatic start to the day and a late arrival. Then three well in the shot put. While B2 brought home 2 more ribbons to add to yesterday's 3rd for 200m. Today 1st in 100m and a team 3rd for relay. They are both pretty happy with themselves. And if 2 days of sitting in extreme heat and running her socks of wasn't enough B2 went off to swimming lessons and flew up and down the pool.

Blackberry Season

I made my first blackberry pie this week and it was amazing! I found a recipe on the net and then altered it a little. It called for instant tapioca ( I only have traditional which needs soaking so I substituted a packet of jelly crystals cut the sugar in half and added a teaspoon of gelatine. It worked a treat and set just nicely. Mr J loved it and went for seconds which is virtually unheard of. I may have to go pick some more.

The Yellowstone Park Bison Herd is the oldest and largest public bison herd in the United States. Forest fires occur in the park each year; in the large forest fires of 1988, nearly one third of the park was burnt. Yellowstone has numerous recreational opportunities, including hiking, camping, boating, fishing and sightseeing. Paved roads provide close access to the major geothermal areas as well as some of the lakes and waterfalls. During the winter, visitors often access the park by way of guided tours that use either snow coaches or snowmobile.

Old Faithful is a cone geyser located in Wyoming, in Yellowstone National Park in the United States. Old Faithful was named in 1870 during the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition and was the first geyser in the park to receive a name.[3][4] It is also called the most predictable geographical feature on Earth erupting almost every 91 minutes. Hello Friends

Hello Nienna, Iam really missing you on this journey across America. We have been to Niagara Falls and Yellowstone and Bison roundup. Bison are sort of like cows but with a bigbig back and they are very very furry on their back and head and have horns. We went Mt Rushmore that had the 4 heads carved into it. The we went to Crazy Horse mountain that they haven't finished yet. It is going to look like an Indian looking and pointing to his family's burial lands and he is riding a horse. I can't wait to show you the poictures when we get back.

Yellowstone Wyoming

We have been to Yellowstone now. We saw a white wolf on the way to Old Faithful which is a geyser. We saw some Elk which are like deer and two of them were fighting on land and in the water. There were three other girl Elks near them. We went and saw Old Faithful erupt and lots of steam and water came out and shot really high up into the sky. Like fireworks. And the water was very very hot and more than 12 people have been killed by standing in the hot water. We saw the Yellowstone canyon with a waterfall going down into it. At Yellowstone there were actually yellow stones.

We drove through Grand Teton and stayed the night at Jackson Hole. Early in the morning we dropped off our Aunty at the airport. She had to go back to England. It was nice having her with us because she is fun, like my mum. Then a few hours later we went up Jackson Hole Mountain in an aerial tram. It took us 12 minutes to get to the top of the mountain. I looked through a telescope and it looked very cool looking down the mountain. We were 10000 feet high. Then we saw 2 people go paragliding down the mountain it looked very fun to me and I really wanted to do it but mum said I am too young. Then it took us another 12 minutes to come down in the aerial tram. Next we drove to the Jackson Hole Visitors Centre and there were stuffed elk and it looked like they were running up a mountain. At the visitors center Julius and I bought a present for Mum. She doesn’t know what it is yet because it’s a secret. Then we went to some shops and Julius bought a potato gun the shoots little pieces of raw potato. Then we met our grandparents at a park that had huge arches made out of elk horns. I went to the art gallery with my grandparents and we saw very cool pictures and there was one of some wolves and some bears and some mountain goats. We saw lots of sculptures and some stuffed grizzly bears. That night we went to a cookout and we rode into Grand Teton Forest in wagons our driver’s name was Jordan. The horses names’ were Jack and Jill and they were both boys. We ate dinner outside, we ate chicken and it was very, very saucy. There was a mountain man named Buckskin, he was looking for somebody to marry. Then the Indians came and Buckskin rode off with them without someone to marry. Then I went up and sang she’ll be coming round the mountain with some other people. I was the ‘yum yum’ girl who ate all the chicken on the way, in the song. It was a little bit embarrassing but lots of fun. There was a grandpa who had to snore and he snored very very loudly in to the microphone. We listened to the band a bit. Then we went back in our wagon and went back to the place where we started. Our wagon letter was ‘H’ and our table number that we ate at was 11. We drove our camper back to the Fireside RV park and had a great sleep.
